Early Childhood Education, Kindergarten and Preschools

Ocean Tots is an educational programme provided by SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium for early learning. Ocean Tots uses play to explore the underwater world for young children, fostering a love of discovery and investigation to help young students develop skills to set them up for a lifetime of successful learning.

We provide the choice of one of the options below to suit your particular group’s requirements. The session involves exploration of our rockpools followed by 40 minutes of play-based activities in our education room with one of our educators, where students are encouraged to role-play, explore and imagine. Our activity stations engage students in sustainability issues and sensory play with authentic artifacts. Students can pretend to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured marine life, learn about responsible fishing and explore marine treasures. Your group will then embark on a self-guided tour around the highlights of the aquarium to view sharks, stingrays, turtles, and penguins.

By completing this tour students will:

  • Learn about a range of marine animals and the difference between them
  • Understand that animals act in different ways and why.
  • Be able to talk about how an underwater environment is different from other environments
  • Build self-confidence by trying new things.
  • Help develop communication and language skills through listening and speaking.
