Shark Tunnel
The curved underwater viewing tunnel here at Kelly Tarlton's was the first of its kind in the world!
Many other tunnels like ours have since been replicated and now
feature in aquariums all over the world. Here you can walk under
some of the world's biggest aquarium sharks, including the
Sandtiger and Broadnose Sevengill Sharks. See if you can spot our
Wobblegong Shark who loves to camouflage against the rocks.
New in-tank Theming
Marvel at our incredible new gigantic Maori heads and
traditional Waka, specially built for our relaunch as Kelly
Tarlton's SEA LIFE Aquarium.
Whilst in the Shark Tunnel, you'll watch in awe as huge Sharks
and Stingrays swim majestically overhead. Our Predator Tank
alone contains more than a million litres of seawater pumped
straight from Waitemata harbour.
Huge Sharks
There are four types of large shark in the Shark Tunnel at Kelly
Tarlton's - the Broadnose Sevengill, School Shark, Sand Tiger, and
Wobbegong sharks. You can watch them being hand-fed by our
divers on Tuesdays and Thursdays - one of our most popular animal
feeds!
Also in the tunnel you'll see thousands of other New Zealand
native fish, as well as eels and rehabilitated turtles, all
creating a magical underwater community.
