Kelly Tarlton’s prepares to welcome Gentoo Penguin chicks

Many of our Gentoo penguins are busy incubating eggs on the rookery so we're looking forward to welcoming baby birds to the colony throughout November. 

Gentoo breeding season at Kelly Tarlton’s starts from September and runs through until November. The penguins pair up and lay two eggs which they incubate by lying on top of. Both parents take turns at incubating the egg which hatches after approximately 35days.
